Director of Communications


The OneVoice Movement (OV) seeks an experienced, senior communications professional to oversee the international communications strategy of the OneVoice Movement.

OneVoice is a multinational organization with offices in Tel Aviv, Ramallah, Gaza City, London and New York. The OneVoice teams work together to build and steward a grassroots movement with over 660,000 signatories in roughly equal numbers both in Israel and Palestine. The movement aims to amplify the voice of Israeli and Palestinian moderates, empowering them to seize back the agenda for conflict resolution and demand that their leaders achieve the two-state solution, ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state living alongside the State of Israel in peace and security.

The primary responsibilities of the director of communications include raising the international visibility of the organization, developing messaging and strategy across all media platforms, increasing press and media outreach, and growing social media presence. This position will be based in the Middle East, working with our Tel Aviv and Ramallah offices.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement communications strategy and policies to support the mission and objectives of OV;
  • Develop clarity and focus on OV messaging, image and branding to build and leverage constituencies;
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of an international social media plan in support of OV;
  • Strengthen OV positioning among key stakeholders, including the media, like-minded organizations and international influencers;
  • Ensure that comprehensive internal capacity building, training and relevant tools, covering all aspects of communications are available at all levels;
  • Provide leadership for communications staff in Israel, Palestine and New York.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) in communications, journalism, international relations or related field;
  • Proven track record of communications leadership in deploying a broad range of applied communications strategies and messages across a variety of mediums;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective communications tailored to the needs of diverse range of audiences in often politically and operationally sensitive contexts;
  • Experience in overseeing websites;
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of social media across international audiences;
  • In-depth knowledge of cutting edge communications and media approaches and tools;
  • Knowledge of tactics of media relations;
  • Excellent strategic planning, organization, and communications skills;
  • Demonstrated political awareness and sound judgment in resolving issues/problems;
  • Knowledge of and interest in Middle East history, politics, and current events;
  • Ability to travel legally to the West Bank and to Israel;
  • Excellent English required; knowledge of Arabic and/or Hebrew is a strong asset.

Development Director (London Based)


OneVoice is an international grassroots movement that amplifies the voice of mainstream Israelis and Palestinians, empowering them to propel their elected representatives toward the ending of occupation and the achievement of a two-state solution.

What makes OneVoice unique is our parallel methodology which is grounded in an approach that seeks to highlight the common self-interest of both Israelis and Palestinians. Our regional offices in Ramallah and Tel Aviv operate in parallel rather than jointly, working within their own communities to build the sort of momentum for change that can push their respective leaderships toward reaching a historic compromise. Our international offices in London and New York help to raise funds and build support for the work carried out by OneVoice Israel (OVI) and OneVoice Palestine (OVP). OneVoice Europe (OVE) is seeking an accomplished Development Director to lead the office’s efforts in this area.

Within the UK and Europe there is phenomenal scope to build our growing profile and expand our successful fundraising operations. The successful candidate will be working predominantly with Major Donors and Trusts and Foundations, but as our profile in Europe grows they will be expected to lead on liaising with our teams to deliver high quality institutional proposals.

Main activities / Responsibilities:

  • To direct OVE’s fundraising agenda, devising and executing a strategy that raises funds using a variety of methods, including major gift solicitations, events, and grant-writing.
  • Development and implementation of a comprehensive programme to identify, evaluate, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors, trusts and foundations with the potential to contribute gifts, developing long term relationships and a growing donor base for OneVoice Europe.
  • The management and development of relationships, and building of a portfolio of individual contacts, including prospective and existing supporters – utilising a wide range of methods including stewardship events and recognition programmes; developing networks amongst donors and prospects; and involving donors and prospects closely with planning activity within OneVoice.  Travel (within the UK and abroad) will be required. 
  • To recruit, promote and co-ordinate the activity of fundraising volunteers, existing donors and trustees in support of securing major gifts and developing prospective supporters, providing targets, strategies and motivational impetus.
  • The expansion, strengthening and increased sophistication of communications and content for donors and targets, turning content produced in the Middle East into compelling fundraising resources.
  • Performing additional duties as and when required.

Key Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing a portfolio of the most significant major donors, trusts and foundations and prospects, raising income to meet agreed targets.
  • Working closely with the Trustees, other OV offices and volunteers to ensure the most effective approaches are made to secure funds.
  • Working in collaboration with our Israeli and Palestinian teams and other experts to develop the most effective fundraising strategies.
  • Producing high quality written proposals and making verbal presentations tailored specifically to meet a donor’s personal interests.

Actively participate in the team strategy.  This includes:

  • Contributing to the team strategy in the context of achieving donor development objectives and targets.
  • Helping to develop and implement all aspects of the donor development strategy, such as the case for support, prospect research, establishing volunteer networks and donor recognition opportunities.
  • Seek opportunities to network and build senior connections with key donors, articulating with clarity, passion and knowledge OneVoice’s work

Person Specification

  • Experience of developing high value relationships with major donors and trusts and success in soliciting principal gifts
  • Proven track record of delivering income against agreed targets and timescales
  • A team player

Essential Skills:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with staff, Trustees, and volunteers: diplomatic, persuasive and credible at senior level
  • Initiative and creativity: ability to pro-actively recruit new donors and to identify and seize opportunities and find solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills: ability to make a cogent and compelling case for support
  • Ability to swiftly gain a thorough understanding of new and complex issues (e.g. political issues) related to OneVoice’s mission
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, meticulous attention to detail
  • Good strategic thinker: ability to set long & short term objectives

Desirable:

  • Good knowledge of Middle East issues
  • Experience of developing high profile high income events that meet strategic objectives.
  • Related post-graduate qualification / fundraising diploma
  • Knowledge of Hebrew/Arabic/; and/or German/French

Salary: £27,000- £40,000 (commensurate with experience)

Program Assistant


The PeaceWorks Foundation is seeking a Program Assistant to support a dynamic team at the OneVoice Movement in New York City.

OneVoice, the flagship undertaking of the PeaceWorks Foundation, is a multinational organization with offices in Tel Aviv, Ramallah, Gaza City, London and New York.  The OneVoice teams work together to build and steward a grassroots movement with over 660,000 signatories in roughly equal numbers both in Israel and Palestine. The Program Assistant will work directly with the Deputy Director providing administrative support and helping to coordinate across a variety of programmatic initiatives including OneVoice's communications and fundraising.

The ideal candidate will provide initiative, energy, and imagination in helping to achieve OneVoice's mission and development goals.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supporting the leadership of the office in scheduling meetings, conference calls, and coordinating travel logistics;
  • Overseeing day to day office management to ensure the office runs smoothly;
  • Managing a contact database of high-level contacts and board members;
  • Assisting in coordination across all OneVoice offices;
  • Facilitating engagement and outreach with donors on behalf of the executive leadership;
  • Supporting the OneVoice US team in development, outreach, and stewardship;
  • Working with the Deputy Director to manage and oversee the OneVoice US internship program;
  • Ensuring that all promotional materials are up to date and drafting substantive content as needed.

Qualifications:

  • B.A. in international affairs, Middle East studies, conflict resolution, or a related field;
  • Computer literacy a must – All Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast paced, challenging environment;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent communications skills – both written and oral;
  • Strong understanding of the political dynamics in the Middle East;
  • SalesForce, SharePoint, and InDesign experience a plus;

Internships


Interns will be responsible for providing administrative and logistical support to our full-time staff. Each intern is asked to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, 3-5 days a week for 3 months. Interns are needed in the areas of communications/media, international engagement programming, and fundraising. Please see below for our internship opportunities.
